About us
Two generations, one standard, twenty years of Houston homes
Century Builders has been remodeling kitchens, bathrooms, and whole homes across the Greater Houston area since 2005. We are still family-owned, still based in Fort Bend County, and still doing the parts of the job nobody photographs.
Our story
From a pickup truck in Stafford to 400+ completed projects
Al Heathcock started Century Builders in 2005 with a truck, a table saw, and a reputation for showing up. His first jobs were bathroom renovations for neighbors in Stafford and Missouri City. Word travelled the only way it did then — homeowners telling other homeowners that the work was clean and the price was the price.
Two decades later we are a full design-build remodeling firm with in-house designers, project managers, carpenters, and tile setters, plus the same electrical, plumbing, and HVAC partners we have used for more than fifteen years. We have remodeled through the oil bust, three floods, a hurricane, and a pandemic supply crisis. Every one of those taught us something about scheduling honestly.
Al is still running the company today. The standards did not change: fixed prices, written change orders, daily communication, and a punch list that gets finished. What changed is that we now put every one of those promises in the contract.
Mission
To give Houston homeowners a remodeling experience worth recommending — beautiful, durable work delivered on a schedule we publish, at a price we hold, by people who treat an occupied home with respect.
Core values
Six commitments we actually enforce
Tell the truth early
If your budget will not reach your plan, we say so at the consultation — not after you have paid for design.
Build it the way it should be built
Bonded waterproofing, engineered beams, flattened slabs, properly vented fans. The right assembly, even when nobody would know.
Respect the house people live in
Containment, protection, daily cleanup, and a working bathroom. Your home is not a job site to us; it is your home.
Keep the crew
We hire employees, pay them well, and keep them. Our core crew has worked together for years.
Finish the punch list
A project is not complete when the last tile is set. It is complete when you have signed off on every line.
Stand behind it for years
Five-year craftsmanship warranty, and we still answer the phone in year six.
Meet the team
The people who will be in your home
You will meet your designer, project manager, and lead carpenter by name before construction starts — and they stay on your project until warranty.

- Rebuilding Together Houston — free accessibility remodels for four senior homeowners annually.
- Post-flood recovery — after Harvey we completed 31 at-cost rebuilds for families whose insurance fell short.
- Trade education — paid apprenticeships with Houston Community College's construction program; six current employees came through it.
