Finish carpenter scribing custom trim on a Houston remodel

Our Process

Ten steps, published timelines, and no surprises

Most remodeling frustration comes from not knowing what happens next. Here is exactly how a Century Builders project runs, start to finish.

Step by step

How your remodel actually runs

Timelines below are real ranges from our recent Houston projects, not best-case marketing numbers.

  1. Initial Consultation

    60–90 minutes, at your home

We walk the space with you, measure, talk through how you actually use the room, and give you honest investment ranges before you spend a dollar on design.

  2. Design Meeting

    1–3 weeks

Our designer produces scaled floor plans and 3D renderings so you can see the finished room from every angle. We revise until the plan is right.

  3. Estimate

    5–7 business days

A detailed line-item proposal covering demolition, framing, mechanicals, materials, labor, permits, and cleanup. No lump sums, no vague allowances.

  4. Material Selection

    2–4 weeks

You save favorites to a Houzz Ideabook and visit our partner showrooms with your designer to choose cabinetry, counters, tile, plumbing, lighting, and hardware.

  5. Contract

    1 day

A fixed-price contract with a defined scope, payment schedule, start date, and substantial-completion date. Everything is in writing before we begin.

  6. Pre-Construction Meeting

    1–2 hours

You meet your project manager and lead carpenter on site. We confirm protection plans, working hours, parking, pets, restroom, and the week-by-week schedule.

  7. Construction

    3–16 weeks by scope

Dust containment goes up, demolition begins, and licensed trades work to a published schedule with milestone inspections at rough-in and again before finishes.

  8. Daily Communication

    Every working day

An end-of-day email with progress photos, what happens tomorrow, and any decision we need from you — plus your project manager's direct cell number.

  9. Final Walkthrough

    2 hours

We walk every surface together and build a punch list. Nothing is considered complete until you have signed off item by item.

  10. Warranty Follow-Up

    30 days, 11 months, 5 years

We return at 30 days and again at 11 months to adjust doors, touch up caulk and paint, and confirm everything is still performing. Your craftsmanship warranty runs five years.

Our commitments

What you get on every project

  • An email every working day

Progress photos, tomorrow's schedule, and any decision we need — sent by 5pm from your project manager, not a portal nobody checks.

  • Fixed price before demolition

Selections and allowances are priced first. Change orders are written, signed, and priced before any work happens.

  • A clean, contained job site

Zip-wall containment, negative air, floor protection, daily cleanup, and a dedicated portable restroom so you can stay in your home.

  • Milestone inspections

We inspect at rough-in and again before finishes go on, in addition to every city inspection your permit requires.
