Houston bathroom remodeling
Most bathroom failures in Houston are waterproofing and ventilation failures, not design failures. We build every wet area as a bonded, flood-tested assembly — and we photograph it for you before the first tile goes up.
What's included
Zero-threshold showers built with a sloped, recessed slab or a properly framed subfloor, linear drains, frameless glass, and benches at 17 to 19 inches. Comfortable now, ready for a wheelchair later.
We install Schluter KERDI membrane and KERDI-BOARD as a bonded waterproofing assembly on every wet wall and pan, flood-test it, and photograph it for you before the first tile goes up. No cement board and hope.
Stacked and offset large-format porcelain, marble mosaic floors, book-matched slab walls, and mitered outside corners rather than bullnose. Layouts are drawn to center on the fixtures, not on the wall.
Shop-built floating and furniture-style vanities sized to the room, with drawer banks that clear the plumbing, integrated outlets inside the cabinet, and stone or integrated-sink tops.
Sconces at face height instead of a single overhead can, dimmable recessed lighting, lighted niches, and a properly sized, ducted exhaust fan on a humidity sensor — critical on the Gulf Coast.
36-inch doorways, blocked walls for grab bars, comfort-height toilets, hand showers on slide bars, lever handles, and slip-resistant floor tile with a tested DCOF rating.
Freestanding tubs with floor-mount fillers, steam showers, heated floors, towel warmers, water closets, private toilet rooms, and dual-entry closets connected to the suite.
Schluter® waterproofing systems
Every custom shower we build uses the Schluter® Shower System — a bonded waterproofing membrane, sloped tray, integrated drain, and sealed curb that work as one assembly.
Schluter-Systems offers a lifetime limited warranty on its shower and waterproofing systems when installed with the required Schluter® components and approved setting materials. We install to those requirements on every shower, so your system qualifies.
Every shower pan is plugged and flood-tested for 24 hours and photographed before a single tile goes up. You receive the photos for your records.
On top of Schluter's coverage, our 5-year written craftsmanship warranty covers the installation work itself. Warranty terms are provided in writing with your contract.

"I am in the process of building a custom home. Al Heathcock helped me design the home and drew up the floor plans which are now in effect. Al was very responsive to my desires for the home and very creative in the design of rooms, closets, and bathrooms. I had never built a custom home and was unfamiliar with the many choices available in the building of a home. Al worked closely with my contractor to present choices in the foundation, structure, and finishing of the home. I would say that Al is very competent in any design project presented to him. I also want to say that in addition to his competence in his field, his character is of most importance. He is a very kind, gentle person, completely honest and trustworthy. I learned very early that if Al said he would do something, he would do it exactly when he said. He never failed in keeping his word and was never late to an appointment. I do not hesitate to recommend him for any home design project."
"We interviewed four contractors. Century Builders was the only one who showed up with a tape measure, asked how we cook, and then told us honestly that our original plan would waste money. The kitchen is stunning and they finished two days early."
"The Schluter waterproofing detail they photographed and emailed to me before the tile went up told me everything about how this company works. Two years later, not one crack in the grout."
