Houston-Area Permit Timelines: What to Expect by City
July 25, 20267 min read
Permit review times across our service area have shifted this year. Here is what we are actually seeing on submitted projects.
Where review is fast
Interior remodels without structural changes are clearing within one to two weeks in most Fort Bend jurisdictions. Straightforward bathroom and kitchen permits are rarely the constraint on a start date.
Where it slows down
Additions, anything touching a bearing wall, and projects in cities with separate floodplain review can take four to eight weeks, longer when engineering revisions are requested. HOA architectural committees add two to six weeks on top.
How we schedule around it
We submit during the selection phase, not after it, so review runs in parallel with cabinetry lead time. Houston-area permitting varies by jurisdiction, and we submit the package for you on every project.
The takeaway
Permitting only delays projects that are submitted late.
