Curbless Marble Primary Bath
- Investment
- $94,500
- Duration
- 7 weeks
A 1968 Bellaire ranch with a compartmentalized primary bath, a fiberglass shower, a garden tub nobody used, and brass everything. We absorbed the toilet closet into the main room, built a 6-foot curbless shower, and set a freestanding tub under the existing window.

Before & After
What changed
Before
AfterChallenges
- Achieving a zero-threshold shower over an existing post-tension slab.
- The original cast iron drain line was cracked below the slab.
- The only exhaust fan vented into the attic rather than outside.
How we solved them
- Recessed the shower within a framed, insulated raised floor with a linear drain.
- Replaced the drain line to the exterior cleanout with PVC under permit.
- New 110 CFM ducted fan on a humidity sensor, roof-vented with a proper cap.
Selections & products
- Schluter KERDI membrane, KERDI-BOARD, and linear drain
- Honed Carrara marble mosaic floor and stacked wall tile

"The waterproofing photos they emailed before tile went up told me everything about this company. Two years later, not one crack in the grout."
